Tak, a northern provincial city which covers an area
of 16,406 km, is a gateway to Myanmar to the west and
the northern Thai cities of Lampang and Chiang Mai. Not
only is it an excellent city to go trekking in, it's
great for the attractions such as the Wat Phra
Boromthat, Ancient Tak City, Bhumibol Dam, Lan Sang
National Park and the Thi Lo Su Waterfall.
Popular local souvenirs are the mangoes and bananas
that are preserved in honey or tamarind and decorative
granite items. Mae Sot is a good place to purchase
Burmese products, including silverware, lacquerware
rubies and other gemstones.
