Phang Nga Bay
The majority of diving destinations close to Phuket are located in nearby Phang Nga, where hundreds of limestone islands rise dramatically from the blue waters of Phang Nga Bay. Also popular are the largely inhabited Similan Islands which was recently listed as one of the world's 10 most beautiful spots for underwater scenery by Skin Diving Magazine in the U.S. The spectacular Phi Phi Islands near Phuket are popular too. True diving enthusiasts can hire boats for excursions to the Similan Islands, located 80km north-west of Phuket, which have clear waters similar to those found in the Maldives, the Caribbean and the Great Barrier Reef of Australia.

Shark Point and Anemone Reef
The reefs is by far the best and most popular dive sites by day trip from Phuket or Phi Phi. These two pinnacles are located approximately 25 kilometers east of Chalong Bay in Phuket. Given official Marine Sanctuary status in 1992, these two dive sites are the only day trips in Thailand that offer truly world-class quality diving. The rock explodes with life - the sheer density of fish and other marine life makes diving here a wonderful and sensual experience.

The Burma Banks
The Burma Banks are a series of large underwater flat-topped sea-mounts that lie approximately 180 kilometers off the North-west Similan Islands. The banks' surrounding waters are over 350 meters deep and prove a challenge for recreational scuba divers. The name is derived from the fact that this 1,500 square kilometer area lies within the exclusive economic zone of Burma. The banks offer a very exciting and stimulating diving experience.
