Bangkok International Film Festival, SF World
Cinemas, CentralWorld
20 July 2007, Bangkok - The 2007 Bangkok
International Film festival got off to a grand start
last night when stars from both Thailand and all corners
of the globe converged on SF World Cinema at
CentralWorld, in the centre of Bangkok.
CentralWorld, the newest and biggest shopping and
entertainment arena in Southeast Asia, played host to
the glitz and glamour event of the year. The longest red
carpet possible was rolled out to greet the stars who
arrived in a succession of limousines to be greeted by
the waiting crowds. The celebrities and invited guests
were then entertained at a reception at SF World Cinema,
where all the 100 plus films will be screened over the
next 10 days.
The opening film, Children of Glory was screened in the
opulent Cinema 3, where an attentive audience watched
this powerful film describe the passion, and strength of
the Hungarian Magyar people in the face of Russian
oppression. The quality of filming is superb, as is the
acting and the commanding musical score.
The film festival kicks off today with a full
programme, and the choice of films is outstanding from
Taiwan to Britain, Australia to the USA. The festival
continues for another 10 days, culminating in the award
of the Golden Kinnaree on Saturday 29th July 2007.
